This F-18 had to land gear up following a technical failure. It hit hardly the ground and the plane skidded off the runway. The pilot escaped without major injury.

This crash severely injured the Commanding Officer of
Marine Aircraft Group 11. The aircraft belonged to Marine
Fighter Attack Squadron 323 at MCAS El Toro California and
crashed in April 1988.

years ago. He was severly injured, and thrown out of the
military after he recovered.
