Interisland Airlines - Antonov AN-12BP

The ATMA Airlines Antonov AN-12, operating for Interisland airlines on behalf of UPS, took off from Mactan, Philippines, for a cargo flight to Angeles, Philippines. 6 crewmembers were onboard. The airplane crashed about 11nm southeast of the airport. 3 crew were killed, 3 crew received injuries and were taken to hospital.
The crew reported a fire on board a few minutes prior to impact with the crew attempting to get the airplane onto the ground immediately. The surviving captain said that they had an electrical short developing into a fire on board. He decided to put the airplane down onto the ground immediately. The aircraft crashed in a rice paddy near the town of Mexico, Philippines, and broke apart. The aircraft burst into flames before all crew could leave the aircraft.
