Air India Express - Boeing 737-8HG

The Boeing 737-800 passenger plane, operated by Air India Express, took of from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a passenger flight to Mangalore, India. 160 passengers and 6 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was destroyed when it crashed while landing at Mangalore-Bajpe Airport. 8 people onboard survived. 158 people were killed.
The Air India Express flight overran the runway while landing on Mangalore's runway 24, hit the localizer antenna, went through an airport fence and down a steep embankment into a ravine. The plane split into two and caught fire after it slid down a steep slope into dense vegetation. Survivors reported a loud bang after the airplane touched down, but the crew did not indicate any problems before landing.
Survivors explained that they jumped off the plane after the plane broke in two.
