The JetBlue A320 lands with the nose landing gear stuck at 90 degrees

What happens in this video ?

On September 21, 2005, Jet Blue Airlines flight 292, an Airbus A-320, landed at Los Angeles International Airport, California, with the nose wheels cocked 90 degrees. The 8 crewmembers and 140 passengers were not injured during this spectacular landing.
Before landing, the crew flew for several hours to burn fuel so that they could land at a lighter weight. The cabin crew emptied the first three rows of seats, and moved the baggage as far aft as possible. The plane touched down at 120 knots and held the nose gear off of the ground as long as possible. When the nose gear did touch down, there were sparks and flames from it, but no fire started.

What was really amazing was that the people on-board this aircraft were watching the news footage live via the aircraft's on-board DirectTV service. How surreal is that? Watching the aircraft you are riding in in 3rd-Person live via national news.

Fantastic Flying. Such skill in keeping the nose up for so long yet keeping the plane down.

Great landing. Even kept it on the centreline the whole way down. If you want to know what a skillfull landing under difficult conditions looks like, this is it. Top pilot.

This was a fantastic command and conglatulate the crew commander for the manouver ie burning the fuel coz with the fire spark, an inferno would have erupted which would have meant injuries/fatalities to crew and pax.

It is real. I watched it on live TV. This problem has happened two other times to this type in the US. Once in 1999 and 2007 A Service Bulletin had been issued.

This must be an maufunction to the front steering wheel becuase it is facing right or left and when the plane land's it ripped off the tires.
