What happens in this video ?

Spectacular video of a DHC-8 belonging to SAS Commuter. The aircraft suffered a landing gear collapse right after touchdown. The right wing and nr.2 propeller struck the runway surface, igniting a fire. The plane swerved to the right and turned before coming to rest in the grass next to the runway. No one was hurt.
The scene occurred on September 9th 2007 at Aalborg Airport (Denmark).

Do y'all think it has to do somethin' with the design?? I've seen this at Kotzebue, A.K. I've never seen this kind of crash before.

After that crash, SAS had more problems with that kind of plane. We are so happy that they are not allowed to fly them in Denmark anymore.

They are actually roll spoilers, but when the flight/taxi switch is in flight mode, as soon as it senses weight on wheels all 4 boards come up and act as lift dumps to plant the aircraft firmly on the runway so breaking is at a maximum.

After the right landing gear collapse, one can note the presence of mind of the crew to put immediately aileron input to the left to try and save as much as possible from an impossible recovery of any sort. Well done Captain.
