The Antonov AN-148-100 operated by Saratov Airlines took off from Moscow Domodedovo, Russia, for a passenger flight to Orsk, Russia. 65 passengers and 6 crew members were onboard. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, about 50 NM (90 km) south-east of Moscow, in a snow field. All the 71 people onboard were killed.
Preliminary analysis shows that the Russian-made aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 6000 feet then entered in a steep descent and disappeared from radar and crashed. Communications with Air Traffic Controlers were normal until the plane disappeared from radar. Witnesses said the plane was in flames as it fell from the sky. The wreckage has been found strewn across a snowy field, near the village Stepanovskoye in the Ramensky District.
