Kata Air Transport Antonov AN-32 plane crash

The Antonov An-32 owned by the Sudanese company Kata Air Transport was on a cargo flight. The plane took off from the Chisinau International Airport,
Moldava, bound to Khartoum, Sudan, via Antalya, Turkey. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff and burned out. All the 8 crewmembers onboard were
killed.
The plane was carrying a cargo of 2.3 tons of vegetable oil. It took off normally, but then a problem developed and the pilots requested permission to
return to Chisinau airport 10 minutes into the flight. The pilot tried to land the Russian-built aircraft, but a wing struck a fence and electrical wires a
few miles from the airport and the plane burst into flames.
The plane crashed at the edge of the village of Bacioi. There were no reports of damage or injuries on ground because the explosion occurred on the
outskirts of the village.
Kata Air Transport is currently on the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in the European Union.
