Angara Airlines Antonov AN-24RV plane crash

The Angara Airlines Antonov AN-24 operating a flight on behalf of Tomsk Avia took off from Tomsk, Russia, for a passenger flight to Surgut, Russia. 33 passengers and 4 crewmembers were onboard. The plane developed problem in cruise and came down in the Ob River, close to Strezhevoy Airport, killing 6 passengers. The 31 other people onboard survived with various degrees of injuries.
The aircraft was enroute at FL 200 (around 6000 meters in altitude) when the chips in the oil filter warning indication for the left engine triggered. The crew decided to divert to Nizhnevartovsk airfield. During the descent, a fire broke out in the left engine. The crew discharged both left engine halon bottles, but the fire did not stop. The crew then decided to perform a forced landing on a sandbank of River Ob. The plane approached the ground slowly, in a stabilized manner, and crash-landed. The tail separated from the fuselage during the landing.
The plane eventually ended about 30 NM short of Nizhnevartovsk airfield.
