Bellanca Viking engine failure and stall in water

What happens in this video ?

This Bellanca Viking suffers an engine failure. The pilot try to ditch in the water, but the plane stalls a few meters above the surface and violently hit the water. People onboard were injured, but survived.

Despite the pilots repeated attempts to keep the plane in the air "just a little longer" - he at least had the smarts to make sure the wings were level upon impact. He was also smart enough to keep it close to the shore. It's hard to tell whether he had the cockpit doors open, as emergency procudures mandate, but at least he didn't go in nose first.

Towrd the lake while it's engine sputters the pilot of the 4 person aircraft strubbles to maintain altitude 50 yards on this shore the airplane slams into the water!

As if the pilot overcontrolled due to the slow approach speed. Should have trimmed slightly more nose down to avoid the unstabilized approach resulting in a 10'drop after stalling. Once low over the water he could have used "ground effect"
