Have watched the video a half dozen times. No one in the cockpit attempting to taxi out of the mud. Listen for the high pitched sound above the noise of the emergency response sirens and look for heat waves from engine during evacuation.

The video & NTSB report show that the pilot was a liar as well as a dope. The chart states the field was closed for jet traffic: a wet, 3,000' runway & he lands downwind! Fortunate that there was no loss of life or area property damage.

To Dave: The engine start up was rather a malfunction. Investigations showed that the left throttle lever was observed in idle cut off, but the right throttle lever was bent to the right at the idle stop.

I really would like the full story if the engine start up was intentional or if there was an electrical malfunction or something. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Anyone, the real story please.... thanks, Dave
