Aircraft crash video

What happens in this video ?

On July 27, 2007, an amateur-built P-51A Mustang collided with the tail section of a North American P-51D Mustang as it was landing during the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh air show (Oshkosh, WI). The aircraft in the rear flipped over and burst in flame. The other plane came to a stop with its nose down. The pilot of the aircraft that ended up on its nose was able to walk away from the crash. The pilot of the other plane was killed.

I was maybe 100 yards from this crash. The leading aircraft was landing. The rear P-51 realized he was overtaking the other and tried to pull up. His wing was under the rear stabalizer and flipped him over.

Correction: I think his (left P51) right wing was under the left stab of the right P51, and as it bounced it pulled the right aircraft up onto its' nose, and caused his own aircraft to do the snap to inverted.

Looks as if the left aircraft bounced on touchdown, became airborne, then snap-rolled to the right. The other P51 wasn't involved.

Gary Beck the pilot of the rare "A" was the man to see if you were restoring a P-51, and not amateur built as stated. Gary's "A" model I understand was to land 1st, but the "D" got in under Gary's view, a sad ev
