The aircraft was on a cargo flight from Taiyuan, China to Riga, Latvia. It crashed shortly after takeoff from Urumqi, China, after making a fuel stop. Reports indicate that the aircraft had extreme difficulty becoming airborne, reaching an altitude of only around 500 feet before crashing into a farm approximately 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the airport. All the 7 crew members were killed.
