While on approach to Batumi, Republic of Georgia, the crew reported that they were diverting course in an attempt to avoid heavy rain and lightning. The aircraft crashed into mountainous terrain some twelve nautical miles from the airport. The 82 people onboard this Ilyushin IL-18 were killed.
