The Embraer ERJ-145 touches down before runway
The AirJet Angola Embraer ERJ-145 touched down at Kolwezi Airport in the Democratic Republic of the Congo before the displaced threshold, in an area undergoing construction work. The impact caused both main landing gear assemblies to collapse. The aircraft then slid off the runway before coming to rest across it and catching fire. There were 26 passengers and 3 crew members on board, all of whom evacuated the aircraft without injury. The runway was partially closed for construction work, and the threshold had been displaced by 1,000 metres, leaving around 1,500 metres available for landing.
