Accident account

The British Aerospace Jetstream 32 operated by Aerocaribe was performing a domestic flight in Mexico. While the aircraft was flying in an area affected by poor weather, the crew advised air traffic control that they would deviate from the planned route to avoid weather ahead.

Shortly after that transmission, the Jetstream struck terrain. The aircraft was destroyed and all 19 people on board were killed. The known sequence therefore involves deteriorated weather conditions and a route deviation shortly before impact.

Investigation findings

Among the public official sources consulted, we did not locate a final report from the Mexican investigation authority that would allow a detailed official cause to be quoted. Weather conditions and the route deviation are documented circumstances, but it would be excessive to infer a definitive cause from those elements alone. The article therefore remains deliberately cautious about the final causal chain.
