The aircraft's crew reported an in-flight fire at FL290 (29000 ft – 9000 meters), and declared intentions to perform an emergency landing. The aircraft broke up and caught fire during the landing attempt at Novaya Inya, Russia. All 18 passengers and crew members were killed.
