The aircraft, on a chartered passenger flight from Cotonou (Benin) to Beirut, crashed while attempting to take off. Witnesses reported that the aircraft impacted a building, exploded, and crashed into the sea. Weather at the time of the accident was good, with airport officials reporting light winds and clear conditions. Various media outlets report that the plane may have been overloaded. 151 out of 163 passengers were killed in the accident.
