EgyptAir Boeing 767-366ER plane crash

The EgyptAir Boeing 767 was operating a passenger flight from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Harare, Zimbabwe. The arrival took place in a severe thunderstorm, with heavy precipitation and gusty winds. During the landing, the aircraft made a hard runway contact and the right engine struck the surface.
The right engine separated from the wing and the aircraft left the runway before coming to rest. The occupants were able to evacuate. Several people were injured during the accident or evacuation, but there were no fatalities.
Investigation findings
The occurrence was the subject of an investigation in which the NTSB participated as the representative of the State of design and manufacture of the aircraft. However, among the public official sources consulted, we did not locate the final report issued by the authority responsible for the investigation in Zimbabwe. The thunderstorm conditions are therefore described as part of the accident context without being converted into an unverified official cause.
