Starsky Aviation Fokker 50 plane crash

The Fokker 50 operated by Starsky Aviation had departed Mogadishu, Somalia, on a passenger flight bound for Galkayo, Somalia. There were 50 passengers and five crew members on board. Shortly after takeoff, the crew reported a technical problem and decided to return to the departure airport. During the emergency landing, the aircraft veered off the runway, crossed the airport perimeter, went down the embankment towards the shoreline and came to rest on the beach in shallow water. All occupants survived and no injuries were reported.
The Fokker 50 involved in the accident was registered 6O-YAS. The Dutch-built aircraft had been manufactured in 1990. It was destroyed in the accident.
