8 plane crashes in year 2021

The Antonov AN-12BK operated by Grodno Aviakompania took off from Yakutsk, Russia, for a cargo flight to Irkutsk, Russia. 4 passengers (escorting the cargo) and 5 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was loaded with a cargo consisting of food and consumer goods. The crew went around after a first approach to Irkutsk. Radar contact was lost seconds later. The aircraft crashed and burst into flames at about 1.7 NM (3 km) East-South-East of the airport, near the village of Pivovarikha. All 9 occupants perished.

The Antonov AN-26 operated by Optimum Aviation took off from Juba, South Sudan, for a cargo flight to Maban, South Sudan. 5 crewmembers were onboard. The aircraft crashed a few minutes after takeoff, about 2 NM from the runway end, across river White Nile. The aircraft was destroyed, and all five occupants were killed.

The Let L-410 operated by Aeroservice LLC on behalf of Sila Avia (Siberian Light Aviation) took off from Irkutsk, Russia, for a passenger flight to Kazachinsk, Russia. 14 passengers and 2 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was on approach to Kazachinsk airport when the aircraft impacted trees at the edge of an island in the middle of the Kirenga River, at about 2.2 NM (4 km) from the runway. The first officer and three passengers were killed, 12 passengers survived with moderate to serious injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.

The Antonov AN-26 operated by Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka Aviation, took off from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, for a passenger flight to Palana, Russia. 22 passengers and 6 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was on approach to Palana in foggy and cloudy conditions when it crashed. All 28 people onboard were killed.

The Boeing 737-275C cargo operated by Transair/Rhoades Aviation took off from Honolulu, HI, USA to Kahului, HI, USA. 2 crewmembers were onboard. A few seconds after takeoff, the crew stopped the climb at about 2000 feet reporting they had lost the left-hand engine. The flight crew initiated a turn back to Honolulu’s airport and advised they might lose their other engine. The crew requested the coast guard out. The aircraft did not make it to the airport and needed to ditch in the Ocean about 2.7 NM short of runway. Both crew were rescued, one pilot was airlifted to a hospital, the other taken ashore by a rescue boat and taken to a hospital. Both pilots received serious injuries.

The Boeing 737-500 operated by Sriwijaya took off from Jakarta, Indonesia, for a passenger flight to Pontianak, Indonesia. 56 passengers and 6 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was climbing through about 10,800 feet MSL out of Jakarta when radar and radio contact was lost. Debris were located in water. No survivor has been found among the 62 occupants.
