UPS MD-11 Cargo goes down after engine detached from wing
The UPS McDonnell Douglas MD-11 cargo aircraft, operating a flight from Louisville (Kentucky) to Honolulu (Hawaii), crashed shortly after takeoff on November 8th 2025. The plane, carrying three crew members, hit the ground and exploded about one kilometer beyond the runway. The crash resulted in 3 fatalities on board, 10 on the ground, and 11 injuries. During the takeoff roll, the left engine of the trijet detached, damaging the central engine. Losing power, the aircraft climbed to about 30 meters before falling back to the ground and striking several buildings.
