YAK Service Yakovlev Yak-42D plane crash
The Yakovlev Yak-42 operated by YAK Service took off from Yaroslavl, Russia, for a passenger flight to Minsk, Belarus. 37 passengers and 8 crewmembers were onboard. The airplane crashed right after takeoff, 1 kilometers away from its departure airport. Among the 45 people onbard, 44 people were killed, and 1 survived with serious injuries.
The plane failed to climb after lift-off, and impacted an antenna outside the airport perimeter. The aircraft reached a few tens of meters of height, and suddenly rolled left and impacted ground. The airplane came to rest about 1 km (0.6 NM) from the airport shattered into pieces, the tail section at the bank of Volga River and the fuselage in the river.
The weather conditions were very good at the time of the accident, with few clouds, low wind and good visibility.
