Indonesia Air Transport ATR 42-512 plane crash

The ATR 42 belonging to IDA Indonesia Air Transport and operated for the Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance took off from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, for a flight to Makassar, Indonesia. 8 crewmembers and 3 passengers were onboard. The pane crashed while on approach to Makassar's airport. The wreckage was later found in a mountainous area, at the peak of Mount Bulu Saraung at about 5100 feet. All the 11 occupants were killed.
The ATR 42 was cleared by ATC for an approach to Runway 21 at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar (UPG). During the approach, ATC identified that the aircraft was not on the correct approach path and subsequently instructed the crew to adjust its position. ATC issued several additional course instructions. Radar contact was lost about 11nm (20 km) northeast of the runway threshold.
Indonesia Air Transport is currently on the blacklist of airlines banned from flying in the European Union.
