Katekavia Antonov AN-24RV plane crash

The Antonov AN-24 operated by Katekavia was performing a passenger flight from Krasnoyarsk, Russia to Igarka, Russia with 11 passengers and 4 crew. The plane crashed while on final approach on Igarka Airport. Twelve occupants were killed in the accident, and three survived.

The aircraft was on a final ILS approach to Igarka's runway 12 in night conditions, light rain, low cloud, reduced visibility and thunderstorm activity in the area, when the airplane impacted a birch grove about 500 meters (1600 feet) from the runway threshold and about 300 meters (1000 feet) to the right of the extended runway center line. The airplane broke up and burst into flames. Photos of the wreckage suggest that the passenger cabin have been completely destroyed by the fire, while the cockpit seems to have been spared.

Both pilots and the flight engineer survived with serious injuries, the 11 passengers and a flight attendant died.
