8 plane crashes in year 2020

The Antonov AN-32 operated by Aer Caribe took off from Lima, Peru, for a cargo flight to Iquitos, Peru. 4 crewmembers were onboard. Right after landing, the plane veered off the runway and burst into flame. The 4 crewmembers were rescued and suffered minor injuries.

The Boeing 737-800 operated by Air India Express took off from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a passenger flight to Kozhikode, India. 190 people were on board, including 184 passengers and 6 crewmembers. The plane landed on Kozhikode airport but went past the end of the runway and fell into a valley and broke apart. 17 occupants were killed, including both pilots and 15 passengers. Another 138 people on board were injured, including 15 seriously.

The Antonov AN-74 belonging to UTAir Cargo and operated on behalf and in colors of United Nations MINUSMA operations took off from Bamako, Mali, for a flight to Gao, Mali. 4 passengers and 7 crewmembers were onboard. The plane overran the runway after landing coming to a stop on soft ground with all gear collapsed and nose and belly substantially damaged. The captain has been seriously injured, 10 occupants received minor injuries. The aircraft was substantially damaged.

The Airbus A320 operated by Pakistan International Airlines took off from Lahore, Pakistan, for a passenger flight to Karachi, Pakistan. 91 passengers and 8 crewmembers were onboard. After a first aborted approach to Karachi the plane positioned for a second one, but crashed short of the runway in a residential area. 97 occupants were killed, and 2 passengers survived. 4 people on the ground were taken to hospitals with burns.

The Embraer EMB-120 operated by East African Express Airways took off from Mogadishu, the capital and most populous city of Somalia, for a charter freight flight. It made an intermediate stop in Baidoa, Somalia, and took off again to Berdale, Somalia. 3 passengers and 3 crewmembers were onboard. The plane was shot down while on approach to its final destination. The Embraer subsequently crashed and burst into flames. All 6 occupants were killed.

The Boeing 737-800 operated by Pegasus took off from Izmir, Turkey, for a passenger flight to Istanbul, Turkey. 177 passengers and 6 crewmembers were onboard. The plane landed at Istanbul airport but overran the end of the runway, impacted the airport perimeter wall and broke into three parts about 170 meters (550 feet) past the runway end. Three passengers died, 179 people were taken to hospitals with injuries. The aircraft is damaged beyond repair.

The McDonnell Douglas MD-83 operated by Caspian Airlines took off from Tehran, Iran, for a passenger flight to Mahshahr, Iran. 136 passengers and 8 crewmembers were onboard. The plane overran the end of the runway after landing on Mahshar's airport, broke through the airport perimeter fence and came to a stop 90 meters beyond the paved end of the runway stopway in the middle of a road. There were no injury, but the aircraft received substantial damage.

The Boeing 737-800, operated by UIA Ukraine International Airlines, took off from Tehran, Iran, for a passenger flight to Kiev, Ukraine. 167 passengers and 9 crewmembers were onboard. The plane crashed minutes after takeoff. Radar contact was lost with the aircraft while it was climbing through 8000 feet, about 12NM (22 km) northwest of the Tehran airport. The crash site has been rapidly located: the Boeing 737 has been completely destroyed. All 176 people onboard have been killed. It has been confirmed on January 11th that the plane has been shot down by a missile.
