10 accidents of Beechcraft aircraft since 2000

The Beechcraft 1900D operated by Searca on behalf of Satena had departed from Cúcuta, Colombia, on a scheduled passenger flight to Ocaña, Colombia. There were 13 passengers and 2 crew members on board. As the aircraft was approaching its destination, it struck mountainous terrain near La Playa de Belén, in the Norte de Santander department. All 15 occupants were killed and the aircraft was destroyed.

The Beechcraft 1900D operated by Eagle Aviation on behalf of Light Air Services was performing a charter flight from Unity State oilfield airstrip, South Sudan, to Juba, South Sudan. The aircraft was carrying oil workers. There were 19 passengers and 2 crew members on board. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crashed near the airstrip. Twenty occupants were killed and one survived (one of the two crewmembers) with serious injuries.

The Beechcraft 1900C operated by Aeropanamericano took off from Miami Executive Airport, Florida, USA, for a ferry flight to Providenciales International Airport, Turks and Caicos Islands. Two crewmembers and two passengers were onboard. The plane was destroyed during collision with terrain, following a loss of engine thrust during initial climb. The two foreign certificated pilots and two passengers were fatally injured. The airplane had undergone routine maintenance in Miami and was returning to Venezuela. The twenty-one-seat airplane was powered by two 1,100 horsepower turboprop engines, equipped with four-blade. Review of maintenance records revealed that the left engine propeller had been due for overhaul. It was removed and replaced with an overhauled propeller prior to the accident flight and the accident flight was the first flight after the overhauled propeller was installed on the left engine. Review of radar and communication data from the Federal Aviation Administration revealed that the flight was cleared for takeoff at 1436:45. At 1438:15, one of the pilots reported an "engine failure" to air traffic control. The controller asked the pilot if he would like to return to the airport and the pilot replied affirmative. The controller then offered a 180-degree turn to runway 9R and the pilot requested a left traffic pattern to runway 27L, which the controller approved; however, the airplane subsequently impacted a utility pole and terrain about 2 miles west of the runway. A postcrash fire consumed a majority of the cockpit and cabin. Witnesses observed the airplane flying low, with the left wing down and the left propeller turning slower than the right propeller, before the airplane impacted the utility pole. The airplane came to rest upright in a field against several trees. The beginning of a debris path was observed near a severed utility pole where scrape marks across the adjacent road were consistent with left wingtip contact. Additionally, sections of left propeller blades were located near the utility pole and along the debris path, consistent with the left propeller impacting the utility pole as the left wingtip was scraping the ground. The debris path extended about 240 feet, on a magnetic heading of 240 degrees, to the main wreckage.

The Beechcraft 1900C operated by JS Air was performing a passenger flight. The plane took off from Karachi, Pakistan, bound for Bhit, Pakistan with 17 passengers and 4 crew members. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff. All 21 people onboard were killed. The airplane was chartered by Italian oil company Eni to transport personnel to an oil field near Bhit Shah in Sindh province. Seconds after lift off, the crew reported that the right hand engine failed. They radioed that they was returning to the airport. However, while the airplane was attempting to return to the airport, it nose dived, crashed, and bursts into flames. The wreckage was found near a military depot, near a residential area in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Town. The airplane impacted terrain about 2 minutes after becoming airborne. Television footage showed the aircraft split in two, the front part totally destroyed and the rear section, marked JS Air, torn off alongside two wheels.

The Beechcraft 1900C cargo plane, operated by Alaska Central Express, took off from Sand Point Municipal Airport, AK, USA, bound for Anchorage, AK, USA. Two crewmembers were onboard. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff, killing both crewmembers. The cargo plane was carrying a load of fish and mail. It was destroyed when it crashed into the water shortly after takeoff. Sand Point is an island on the south side of the Alaska Peninsula, about 550 miles southwest of Anchorage.

The Beechcraft 1900 operating on behalf of Air Serv International departed Kinshasa, Congo, on a humanitarian flight to Goma, Congo. 15 passengers and 2 crewmembers were onboard. En route stops were made in Mbandaka and Kisangani. The last stop before Goma would be Bukavu, a one hour flight from Kisangani. The airplane approached Bukavu and crashed. There is no survivor. The plane was carrying 15 UN and private aid workers and two crewmembers. It flew into a steep ridge while approaching on Bukavu in severe weather conditions, some 15 km northwest of Bukavu and broke into several pieces when it hit the ground. The 21-seat Beechcraft 1900 went missing on September 1st, but the wreckage was spotted the next morning. The circumstances of the accident are still unknown, but the weather was reported to have been particularly bad in the area at the moment of the accident. Financed by international donors, Air Serv International carries humanitarian aid workers throughout Congo. It also operates in Chad, Uganda, Mozambique, Iraq and Afghanistan. Air Serv International describes itself as a not-for-profit aviation organization that supports humanitarian programs worldwide.

The Beech 1900, rented from the charter company Southern Sudan Air Connection, departed Wau, Sudan, on a flight to Juba, Sudan, via Rumbek. The airplane was carrying 18 passengers, including key members of the southern Sudanese government, and 2 crewmembers. The plane crashed near Rumbek (the provincial capital of Lakes State, north of Juba) killing all onboard. The plane crash while it was on last leg from Rumbek to Juba. The cause of the crash is probably due to a technical failure with both engines of the plane. It is believed a double engine failure forced the pilot to perform an emergency landing, but the plane impacted the ground violently. The wreckage was bad and it takes time to open it up completely.

The aircraft took off from Charlotte/Douglas International Airport for a scheduled commuter flight to Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina. Shortly after lift off, the aircraft suddenly veered left and crashed into a US Airways maintenance hangar approximately 1500-2000 feet from the runway centerline. All 21 passengers and crew members were killed.
