Landing of a seaplane on water... gear down. Amazing outcome

What happens in this video ?

This hydroplane lands on a lake with the wheels down. Resistance caused by the contact between the wheel and the water put the aircraft up side down. The pilot was able to go out of the plane.

Checklists are there for a reason: to avoid the brain-farts which lead to these situations. If you ever fly with anyone who says "I have the checklist memorized", walk away. That's like Obama saying "Chill! I got this!"

Pilot later died from injuries sustained from acute embarrasment. Really though, inverted escape from submerged plane; nice! Wonder if he did that Navy Class where they dunk you in crash simulation.

Also this is not a hydroplane. A hydroplane is a boat, whereas this is an airplane!

Rule 1: When flying an Amphibous AC, remember to leave the gear up on a water landing and put the gear down on land. I am sure the insurance company will appreciate if you remember that simple rule.
